Sakala to Kala
Khamir is one of the largest NGO's working with crafts communities in India. They commissioned an exhibition to celebrate the revival of 'Kala' cotton - the indigenous cotton of Kutch, Gujarat. The exhibition was designed as a tactile and visual journey set in harmony with the earthy Khamir campus. It was primarily meant to be a celebration for the local farming & craft communities, so we co-created with them to design an experience they could take pride in calling their own. We were careful not to impose foreign design sensibilities on the audience or the space. The idea was to naturally & organically create an exhibition that was unassuming and at home in the Khamir campus.
